Svetlena Taneva is a researcher at ETH Zurich, Switzerland, conducting part of her work with the Healthcare Human Factors Group at the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation. She specializes in the development of software design methods tailored to the clinical domain. Her interest is in leveraging knowledge of the social aspects of clinical teamwork to safety designs. Currently, Svetlena is investigating communication and coordination breakdowns in high-risk clinical work and how they can be incorporated into systems concept designs in order to produce safer and error-tolerant ehealth applications.

Svetlena’s background is in Psychology and Computer Science. At Brandeis University in Boston she worked on issues of cognitively-based design of groupware to support collaborations online. Svetlena also designed healthcare applications at Siemens Corporate Research/Siemens Medical Headquarters in Munich, Germany.
